Wozny's direction creates an amazing journey into the war torn 40's and a fascinating new edge to this period frequently depicted in films. Independent film making is a whole new game now. Technical breakthroughs in just the last 2 months have allowed independent filmmakers to realize a cinematic vision, once only dreamed of. Wozny has used this new technology to make "Yours Truly", and has created an astonishing film with a quality previously unattainable at this level of film production. These breakthroughs will truly change the landscape of the independent film industry and "Yours Truly" is proud to premiere this technology.
"Yours Truly" stars Michael Helm as Tony, a young soldier sent to WW2 to defend his country and Anais Thomassian as Mary, the beautiful love he leaves behind. This short takes you through the life of a soldier and shows what war meant to a girl who must remain strong and wait, and wait and wait to learn the fate of the man she loves.
The film is a true family story. Wozny discovered over 300 letters, war medals including a purple heart, photos, and keepsakes in an old tattered war chest stuffed in the attic that were written by his grandparents, Tony and Mary, during WW2. The couple met, fell in love and spent only a few months together before Tony was called to war. They immediately began writing letters to each other describing their emotions and life experiences during this tumultuous time. It is a deep look into their life and a detailed account of the early 40's. The letters emotionally detail Tony's proposal to Mary and describe the anguish Tony feels when he looses his best friend and best man on the battle field. This real life love story has been turned into an epic short full of emotion, heartache, passion and love.
Wozny will bring his grandparents to the theater on Sunday to premiere this short, completely unbeknownst to them. It will be premiered on their 60th wedding anniversary.
It is a film you must see to fully grasp the talent of this young director. His vision creates a moving story that draws you to the screen.
