Halle Berry gets on-set coaching for accent

Halle Berry and Stellan Skarsgard get on-set dialect coaching from vancouver acting school coach Tony Alcantar

VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, November 28, 2008 /Movies and Video PR News/ -- Halle Berry and Stellan Skarsgard are currently in Vancouver B.C. shooting the feature film Frankie and Alice from Oct 27- Dec 17 2008. While Halle and Stellan are on camera, voice coach Tony Alcantar is quietly listening off camera. These actors need coaching with their Dialects. Stellan Skarsgard is originally from Sweden. To be accurate for the film he wanted to sound American. Halle on the other hand needs to work on multiple accents for the film. Vancouver based Production Company Brightlight Pictures insist on authenticity, this is where Alcantar comes into the picture.

Tony is the resident dialect and Improv coach at Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts http://www.vadastudios.com/instructors.cfm?INSID=10. In between on-set coaching he squeezes in classes at the Vancouver acting studio helping the aspiring become the next Hollywood celebrity. In fact Tony has been very successful at figuring out what local actors need to compete in the ever demanding US sponsored TV industry. His list of actor he has trained is impressive. Grace Park (Boomer on Battlestar Gallactica, The Cleaner, and The Border), Elaine Cassidy (Harper's Island), Greg Calpakis (Cold Squad), Kate Beahan (The Wicker Man) Elizabeth Banks & Nathan Fillion (Slither) Jenna Fischer (The Office).

Tony roots are from Chicago, where he got his MFA in acting and sharpened his teaching skills at the famed Second City. He taught at that school for a few years helping launch the careers of fellow comedians Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) Stephanie Weir (Mad TV). Tony now teaches his own brand of improv here in Vancouver at www.improvchicago.ca

"Tony is the go to guy in Vancouver for Dialect coaching" says the Artistic Director for VADA, Simon Longmore (http://www.vadastudios.com/instructors.cfm?INSID=1). Longmore noticed Alcantar's talents when he arrived in Vancouver from Chicago 10 years ago. Since then, Alcantar has been a mainstay at VADA.

Tony is no hack either. Having been a member in the Vancouver acting community Tony can not only talk the talk he walks the walk. Having regular roles of TV series such as Breaking News, Amercian Dreams and the animated series Gadget and the Gadgetinis.
