A documentary about a family's economic and life struggles and the problems that threaten to tear the family apart. The film is based on a true story, and the producers and director will be available to discuss the film with the audience.
STONE RIDGE, NY, December 03, 2008 /Movies and Video PR News/ -- Filmmaker Nicole Quinn, the current SUNY Ulster Larry Berk Artist-in-Residence, will present a "sneak preview" of 21 Below, a documentary about the struggles of a middle class family in Buffalo. The film is based on the true-life story of the film's producer and star Sophia Raab Downs' family. The film reveals their economic and life struggles and the problems that threaten to tear the family apart. 21 Below will be shown on Thursday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Vanderlyn Hall, Student Lounge on the Stone Ridge campus of Ulster County Community College. Nicole Quinn, Sophia Raab Downs, co-producer Jenny McGuire and film director Samantha Buck will be on hand to discuss the film with the audience. The event is free and open to the public.
Sophia Raab Downs is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and has worked production on NBC's Law & Order and ABC's Spin City, as well as independent feature films and music videos. Downs is one of the producers of Racing Daylight, Nicole Quinn's award-winning film. She is currently a producer for Quinn's forthcoming film, Slap and Tickle. Downs also produced Gospel Hill, directed by Giancarlo Esposito and starring Angela Bassett, Danny Glover and Julia Stiles. Sophia and her husband actor Jason Downs formed the film production company Watershed Works. The company recently produced Come Lovely and Sheep's Clothing, for which Sophia wrote the screenplay. As a member of the Peregrine Theatre Company, she has directed plays at the John Houseman Theatre and HERE Performance Space in New York City.
