Collaborates With (RED) To Help Eliminate AIDS in Africa
VAIL, CO, January 28, 2009 /Movies and Video PR News/ -- The Colorado Film Institute announced today the dates and film categories for the 2009 Vail Film Festival. The international film festival will hit the slopes from April 2 - April 5, 2009 at America's top-rated ski resort in Vail, Colorado.
The 2009 festival will screen films for all four days of the event, in a number of different categories including feature films, shorts, documentaries, student films, action sports films, Oscar shorts, an Animated film showcase, and a Green Film showcase.
The event schedule will include an Opening Night Party, Filmmaker Reception, Awards Ceremony, Closing Night Party, and Music Cafe.
"We're very excited about the Festival's growth over the past five years. 2009 marks our sixth year, and we're very proud of the reputation we've built in such a short period of time," said Sean Cross, co-founder and co-director of the Vail Film Festival. "The Festival has become a key screening platform for many independent filmmakers and that's been reflected by the substantial increase in submissions we receive each year. These submissions numbers enable us to be extremely selective, and to create a great film program with a wide range of styles and unique visions."
Vail Film Festival will continue its collaboration with (RED), an brand created by Bono and Bobby Shriver to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. (RED) and the Vail Film Festival will host the second annual (RED) Vision Film Showcase at the 2009 Vail Film Festival, a screening of the winning films from the (RED) Vision Film Contest. The Festival will contribute 25% of the sale of each Festival Avanti Pass to the Global Fund, the organization that receives (RED) money.
