LITTLETON, CO, March 11, 2009 /Movies and Video PR News/ -- Actors Macleish Day, Marianne Page, Adrian Hart and June Polner will join director Trygve Lode and producer Darlene Cypser at Opus Fest, Denver's fantasy convention at the Red Lion Hotel at 4040 Quebec Street, Denver, CO 80216 on March 13th, 14th and 15th. The Highwayman is a historical action/adventure, ghost story which is preparing to shoot in Colorado. A pre-production promotional trailer for The Highwayman will be screened at Opus Fest on Saturday March 14th at 12:30 pm. There will also be a question and answer session with the actors and the director and producer. The actors will also appear in costume and perform some scenes from the movie live. Members of the cast and crew will also be available for pictures and autographs throughout Opus Fest.
Opus Fest is a fantasy convention offering live music, workshops, demonstrations, competitions, gaming, a dealer's room and an art show.
Boulder native Macleish Day stars as Will Stiles, a young farmer in 18th century England who becomes a highwayman seeking revenge on those who wronged his family and who continues his revenge even after death. Macleish completed a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theater at University of Northern Colorado last year. His performance as J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed at Business Without Really Trying last summer with the Colorado Light Opera was highly praised by the Daily Camera. He has had roles in a number of with the CU Opera Company, The Little Theater of the Rockies, the Greeley Community Theater, and the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. He was featured as a dancer in An Air Force Christmas for PBS. Macleish's background as a dancer brings a flare to his sword fighting scenes in The Highwayman that complements his superb dramatic skills.
June Polner, who plays Will Stile's mother Ann Stiles, brings a good dose of authenticity to the story set in England. June was born in Yorkshire England and has performed on stage and on television in both England and the US. She plays the peasant Anne Stiles with motherly warmth and charm.
Marianne Page is currently studying theater at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood. She has been featured in a number of Red Rocks productions and in the motion pictures 11:59 and Rear View Mirror. While Marianne Page may be new to much of the public, she has the type of beauty that is unlikely to go unnoticed long. Some have compared her to the young Olivia Hussey who starred in Zeffirelli's famous movie version of Romeo and Juliet. Marianne brings a mix of innocence and passion to her performance as Bess, the innkeeper's daughter, in The Highwayman.
Adrian Hart plays the rather sleazy "ostler" or stable boy who in Alfred Noyes' poem (on which the movie is based) betrays Bess and Will to the soldiers resulting in their deaths. While Adrian is only a 19 year old college student, he is likely to have a long career as a character actor. His rendition of the character of Tim was so perfect from the first reading that no one else was considered after that.
Trygve Lode is known to audiences for a number of roles in front of the camera, including as the mad scientist Therion in the martial arts action movie, Dragon and the Hawk, and as the man-turned-monster in the creature-feature, The Shadow Walkers. Long before he placed a foot on a movie set Trygve was entertaining people with his writing. His more famous humor pieces are The Philosophy of Kisses and The Visible Barbie. Trygve is also co-founder of Lode Data Corporation and President of the non-profit Nyx Net. If that wasn't enough, for The Highwayman, Trygve makes his debut in the director's chair. Producer Darlene Cypser said, "He's been a back-seat director for quite a number of years. I thought it was time for him to get behind the wheel." Trygve also plays Lt. Cardwell, an infantry lieutenant who is charged with the task of hunting down the highwayman a task which turns out to be more difficult than he bargained for.
