James N. Selvidge Joins the Ranks of Leading Executives

James Selvidge has devoted the last four decades of his career to promoting foreign-language film in the United States.

BURLINGTON, WA, April 29, 2009 /Movies and Video PR News/ -- James N. Selvidge, Chief Executive Officer and Emeritus of Truline Legacy, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of film promotion.

James Selvidge has devoted the last four decades of his career to promoting foreign-language film in the United States. Through Truline Legacy , his own publishing company, he wrote and released the book, "Bergman, Fellini, Kurosawa: The Foreign Film In America," often described as one of the best-written books on the subject in the last 50 years. He is also widely lauded for his contributions to the so-called Golden Age of Foreign Films as the proprietor of one of only a handful of independently-operated movie houses in the U.S. to show foreign cinema and champion the work of such auteurs as Bergman, Godard, Buñuel and Kurosawa. Local media has also credited Mr. Selvidge for bravely taking on censor boards and right-wing conservatives, founding the Seattle Film Society, and turning his community into "one of the savviest movie towns in the country" (Richard T. Jameson, Movietone News and Film Comment). Known for actively advocating the removal of porn from Seattle theaters, Mr. Selvidge attributes his success and longevity to his humility and the inspiration he received from his father.

A certified teacher, Mr. Selvidge received his Master's Degree in Psychology in 1955 from the University of Washington and his Bachelor's Degree in English in 1950. He founded the Seattle Film Society, was a board member of the Allied Arts of Seattle, Theater Owners of Washington, the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, and is a member of Mensa International. He served as a liaison to the Central Area Motivation Project in Seattle. Mr. Selvidge aspires to gain recognition for his books, complete his three manuscripts, write more fiction, and be entered into next years' Guinness World Records for having watched the most number of films. An insatiable lover of cinema, he has viewed 30,000 movies to date.
